A file can look perfectly acceptable on a phone or computer screen and still be unsuitable for professional printing.

A transparent PNG can contain only the logo.

However, JPG does not support true transparency.

They may actually want:
Logo only + transparent background
Those are two different files.
The white area isn't automatically understood as "nothing."
If the background needs to be removed, it may require artwork editing.
Transparent Backgrounds for DTF

When artwork is intended to be printed without a rectangular background, the area surrounding the design should generally be transparent.

However, white artwork is different from a white background.

Is 300 DPI Required for DTF?
300 DPI is a commonly recommended target for high-quality print artwork at the intended finished size, but DPI should be understood in context.
DPI means dots per inch, while a digital image itself is fundamentally defined by its pixel dimensions.
For example, an artwork file that is intended to print at:
10 inches wide × 10 inches tall
would ideally have approximately:
3000 × 3000 pixels
for 300 pixels per inch at the finished size.
The important relationship is:
Pixel dimensions ÷ finished print dimensions = effective resolution
Therefore, simply changing an image's metadata from 72 DPI to 300 DPI does not magically create additional image detail.
A 500 × 500 pixel image does not become a genuinely high-resolution image simply because someone changes the DPI field to 300.
